Saturday Sessions

We had an interesting night's training last night. The Saturday sessions were becoming a little tired... they degenerated into something resembling a formal training class, something I never wanted to do. So I opened them up to anyone in the club to come down to do whatever training they wanted - brush up on something, sparring, or just pounding on the focus mitts.

Of course we continue with the rule - no karate suits!

I recently purchased a pair of Firepower Thai pads from Blitz. We gave them a first shot last night - I have to say they are wonderful training aids. Excellent quality and a veratile piece of equipment for pad work. Combined with focus mitts they make a great way of training.

We continued with Kushanku and Naihanchi for a couple of higher grades, but the yellow belts wanted to join in too because they are intrigued by the possibilities of kata training.

The evening finished with a quick run through Sanchin (we do it without the dynamic tension - it is a soft qigong form).
