We've had a week off training.... because I've been away for a break. Not had a proper holiday (i.e. vacation) in about 3 years, so we headed for the hills and hired a cabin in the forest. It was very peaceful, superb views and plenty of wild life - many varieties of birds, and the red squirrels were a highlight.
I didn't do much training. Sometimes it pays to take a step back and do little. In my younger days I would go out of my way to train, almost to the point of obsession. I'd even train with an illness. Stupid, I know. Nowadays I know better. Quantity of training isn't that important, it's quality that counts, and having some time away with nature is part of the bigger picture.
I did get some exercise though - the nice people who hire cabins thought to provide a nice swimming pool (indoor and outdoor), so the kids had a great time with that.
Recharging the old batteries works a treat and we'll be back to it next week.
