That is quite sad. It reminds me of how my Sensei is always teaching us to "avoid dangerous places, and people" in the first place, and that being aware is the very first line of self defense.
Couldn't agree more. Personal Safety is bigger than self defense, it's what keeps you out of harm's way. In this example an innocent bystander was killed - but standing slightly to one side could have made all the difference.
